The overall sense of dread and fear. The immersion. The danger just looming on the horizon ready to pounce on at any given moment.(Literally pouncing. Those raptors scared me more than once. :p)
Sound plays a big factor in immersion and the original games had excellent sound design. From the insects buzzing around to the distant animal roars. Sadly so that I felt that ps3 version lacked a good sound design. Stego using Bear sounds and the Anky using generic monster sounds to name a few. I hope Reborn fixes this and reading in the FAQ that the sound design has been reworked gives me good hopes.
